The Greek Research Network (GRnet) provides for its members (Universities, Technological Education Institutes (TEI), Research Institutes, etc) and their end-users the “Digital TV” service. The service broadcasts digital,terrestrial (DVB-T) and internet channels.
The individual services offered, are:

1. Broadcasting of MPEG-2 streams over multicast. The target group consists of the end-users of institutions which have multicast enabled networks. This service aims to promote the multicast technology to the institutes connected to GRnet, as well as, the Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
   
   
2. Unicast broadcast of MPEG-4 streams. The target group consists of the end-users of institutions whowatch the channels from networks that are not multicast enabled (eg their home). This service aims to promote the GRNET Federation Authentication & Authorization Infrastructure (AAI) based on Shibboleth to the GRNET members.

The broadcasted channels are the following:

ERT digital: Prisma+, Cine+.
ERTworld which is broadcasted by National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
Τhe Hellenic Parliament’s channels.
The GRnet’s Internet channels.
Other national and international Internet channels.
